KJL Solicitors was established in 2008. Since then we have been offering our clients advice in the complex and fast-changing fields of Employment Law, Commercial and Company Law and providing legal representation in Civil and Commercial Litigation.
In 2010 KJL Solicitors relocated from Brundall to Blofield and took premises located in the High Street where we have worked out of ever since. We have expanded our team, introducing local solicitors, licensed conveyancers, mediators and paralegals who deal comprehensively with business sales and purchases, residential property, leases, wills, probate, lasting powers of attorney, divorce, financial affairs, family law and mediation.
Our aim is obtaining resolutions quickly, pragmatically and at the lowest possible cost to you. Our reputation and no-nonsense approach has spread to most of the local communities with 90% of the surrounding villages using us repeatedly in their legal matters, this is something we remain very proud of at KJL Solicitors. Over the last 16 plus years we have raised millions in future legacies for an array of charities we are committed to assisting through various will schemes. Kerry Joan-Law
Managing Director, Solicitor, and CEDR accredited Civil and Commercial Mediator
Kerry Joan-Law is a litigator, mediator,(CEDR accredited), business and employment specialist. A member of the Law Society, Civil Mediation Council, a Member of the Employment Lawyers Association. She often delivers specialist seminars to businesses on updates in the law and has written regular articles for the Oil Gas and Shipping industry. She has handled multi-litigant disputes up to £2.6 million, but has also taken on more valuable single litigant disputes in excess of £12.5 million. Kerry has represented numerous blue chip and large corporate clients throughout her practising life and undertakes a variety of residential and commercial property sales and purchases.
Kerry oversees the running of the conveyancing, litigation and employment departments which she has built up over the last 15 years.
Employment background - 1996 -2001 business owner East Anglia Costing Services, law cost draftsman and supreme court taxing participant on behalf of law firms. Kerry then completed her LPC course and went to Wortley Redmayne & Kershaw in 2002 Chelmsford and commenced her trainee solicitors contract in litigation, employment, High Court injunctions and Commercial Property. From Chelmsford she returned to London in 2004 to work for Gowen & Stevens Solicitors in Litigation and Employment. In late 2006 Kerry then moved to Norfolk following her family's relocation and worked for Fosters as Deputy Head of Litigation and Employment. In October 2008 Kerry then aspired to set up her own firm which she has successfully run for 15 years. Kerry is 20 years post qualified and charges out at £275.00 per hour plus VAT.
Nakita Louise Heather
Wills and Probate Associate Solicitor
Nakita Heather is an Associate Solicitor specialising in all areas of Private Client matters.
Nakita is 13 years post qualified. Nakita Joined KJL Solicitors in February 2024 and comes from highly regarded and respected Norwich based law firms. She is a Fully Accredited Member of Solicitors for the Elderly "SFE" and an Affiliate Member of STEP.
Nakita can advise on all aspects of will writing and drafting, lasting powers of attorney, cross jurisdictional probates and can undertake court of protection work. She works on all manner of probate and letters of administration, including acting on complex estate administrations.
Nakita has a warm persona and a has a genuine and caring outlook in her work. She is a safe pair of hands. In her spare time Nakita enjoys spending time with family and friends, walking, supporting her children through a variety of sports and musical pursuits.
Rachael Harvey
Conveyancing Executive
Rachael commenced employment with KJL Solicitors as a business administration apprentice in 2018, she completed her level 3 business administration City and Guilds in 2019. In our continued support and development of all our staff and their on-going training, Rachael completed her assistant support and Trainee Conveyancing Courses with the Conveyancing Academy. Rachael then went on to qualify as a Level 4 Conveyancing Techician through the Council of Licensed Conveyancers (“CLC”) and is now sitting her CLC Level 6 conveyancing exams to qualify as a Licenced Conveyancer. Rachael has a bubbly personality with a dry sense of humour and brings her can do attitude into everything she does.
Eva-Mae Cobb
Administration assistant
Eva-Mae Cobb joined KJL Solicitors in the summer of 2024 having sucessfully completed her A Levels. Eva-Mae is undertaking the CLC level 4 qualification in conveyancing and is an extremely competent paralegal. Eva-Mae is a pleasure to work with, has a wholly helpful mannerism about her and is a fantastic support assistant to Rachael and the conveyancing team. Eva-Mae loves to read, enjoys theatre shows and is a keen traveller.
Philip Hook
Solicitor, Director, Conveyancing & Probate Department
Philip was admitted as a solicitor in 1977. Philip has worked in a variety of law firms across the region, setting up his own practice in 1983 which he successfully continues to run today. Philip has undertaken conveyancing and probate services on behalf of KJL Solicitors as a locum since 2011 and in January 2020 he was appointed as a part-time director, in order to assess conveyancing compliance standards across the firm and contribute to the conveyancing team. Philip is highly experienced in all aspects of residential conveyancing, wills and probate and is a valued member of the conveyancing and Probate team. He is 47 years post qualified and charges out at £255.00 per hour plus VAT.
Angela McGonangle
Practice Manager
Angela is the practice manager, she has 50 years experience in the legal sector and deals with client care, recruitment, buying services and overseeing back office administration.
